New field this year:

St. Thomas has totally demolished the tennis courts and parking lot next to the softball field and they have it completely blocked off. The way we’ll need people to go is take Cretin Ave. S from 94E but instead of going down to Grand Ave., they need to take a Right on Summit ave. about halfway down, there is a turn to get into the parking lot (past the tall buildings on the corner) (there is a church on the right hand side). Once they turn into that parking lot they need to go left at the stop sign and right at any point before the construction. Go straight through the parking lot and the field is on the left. There is an entrance on the W side of the field (opposite side of homeplate). They can park in that lot and get to the field that way.

Here is the LONG AWAITED SCHEDULE. Thank you for your patience…as does my six week old son!!!

Please check your teams schedule CAREFULLY! We are playing some games at St. Thomas on tuesday nights which is different from our original thoughts of just playing mondays at Spanjers and St. Thomas and tuesdays only at Dunning. Also, we did need to schedule some games on the south field at Dunning, PLEASE NOTE if you play there, often times you will need to then switch fields to get in your double header.

Let Amy Lou know if you find any games where your team has been double scheduled…this could happen when scheduling so many games, our eyes were bugging out of our head at then end of this process!!!!

Lastly, please don’t forget to contact Tim Johnson regarding the Irish tournament. Again, the league will pay the entry fees….so sign up for this great tournament.

Hello Coaches and Managers!

It is that time of year again to mark your calenders for the preseason softball meeting. It is scheduled for WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30TH from 7:00-9:00pm at the Byerly’s Community Room at the Byerly’s Grocery Store in Ridgedale located in Minnetonka (HWY 394 and Plymouth Road). This is the same location we have met for the past 2 years. If you have any questions about this location, please let me know….it is very easy to find.

Our meeting date is a little later than last year, so we are asking for a few items from you.

1. Preliminary rosters with players committed to play on your team.
2. We will be collecting the league dues ON OUR MEETING NIGHT. Our dues WILL NOT change this year. The cost will be $450 for a 10 game schedule and $630 for a 14 game schedule. We will also require your forfeit deposit of $150 as well. This check WILL NOT BE CASHED unless necessary; we will talk more about this at our meeting.

**we will be doing the softball schedule shortly after our league meeting, it is IMPERATIVE that you have your teams solidified and committed to play ball this summer. As many of you may remember, we had some teams back out of our league last year AFTER the schedule was completed, this caused numerous problems with realigning games.

So mark your calenders for the meeting. We need at least ONE representative from each team at this meeting! Please let me know if you have any questions. There will be additional emails as our date gets closer.

SPANJERS PARK

All parking at Spanjers Park is beyond the outfield fence. There is no street parking adjacent to the park.

From the SOUTHWEST:

Take either 169 or 100 north to County Road 9/Rockford Road/42nd Avenue North. Go east (right) to County Road 81 (McDonald’s will be on your right). Cross 81 and turn right on the first street (Lakeview Avenue, right behind the Oasis Market).

From the NORTHWEST:

Take 694 east to County Road 81. Follow 81 south to 42nd Avenue North (Pilgrim Cleaners will be on the right, McDonald’s across the street). Turn left and then right immediately on Lakeview Terrace (behind the Oasis Market).

From the NORTHEAST:

Take 694 west to Highway 100. Follow 100 south to County Road 81. Turn
left southeast) onto 81 and follow it to 42nd Avenue North (Pilgrim Cleaners
will be on the right, McDonald’s across the street). Turn left and then
right immediately on Lakeview Terrace (behind the Oasis Market).

From the SOUTHEAST:

Since Broadway/81 is under construction and is also very congested, I’m recommending that you follow 94 north out of Minneapolis all the way to the Dowling Avenue exit. Turn left on Dowling and follow it to Victory Memorial Parkway. Turn right (north) on the parkway and follow it to 45th Avenue North. Turn left and follow 45th (the name will change to Lake Drive) and you will see Spanjers Park on your left. When you get to the right
field fence, turn left onto Lakeview Avenue.

THE PARKING LOT IS BETWEEN THE FIELD AND THE ROBBINSDALE CITY HALL. THE ONLY ACCESS IS FROM LAKEVIEW AVENUE.

On Monday, June 11, Spanjers is not available, so we will play at Lakeview Terrace. You can see from the map that it is just a few blacks south of Spanjers, and there is parking both north and south of the field.

From the SOUTHWEST:

Exit 169 or 100 on 36th Avenue North instead of Cty. 9/Rockford/42nd. You will see the park when you get to County 81. Cross 81 and follow the curve to the parking entrance or turn left on 81 and then right into the frontage road parking area.

From the NORTHWEST and NORTHEAST:

Continue down County 81 a few more blocks until you get to 36th Avenue North. Turn left and follow the curve to the parking entrance.

From the SOUTHEAST:

Turn LEFT onto Victory Memorial Parkway and then right on 36th Avenue North.
36th will end at Beard, just above the parking area. Turn left and go one
block. Turn right and enter the parking lot almost immediately.

Directions to Robbinsdale Diamonds

Spanjers

This is a single field. It is adjacent to the Robbinsdale City Hall. Also note that there is a curfew for lights at this field (10 p.m.). We will only have a 10 minute warm-up on the field for the 7:25 game. Also note that there will be a 5 minute break between the 7:25 and 8:45 games (that’s why the final two games are against the same two teams each night at this field). In addition, please note that there is quite a bit of construction in this area. Please allow yourself time to get to the field. Also, really hustle on and off the field because we have such a tight time crunch at this ballpark.

(basically, this is near the intersection of Hwy 81 and 36th Avenue)

It is the only softball diamond at the park (there are two baseball fields as well). There is major construction going on in this area as well. Please allow yourself extra time to figure things out!
